How fake is panhandling?
A young man dressed down as a homeless made many with “drug wanted” sign than “single father” help sign.
Thousands of people today drive or walk by homeless by thinking that a man is lazy to go get a job. Everyone of us can get a job if they wanted.
Some case it is true. Most case it is not true.
Panhandling definition is to approach strangers and beg for money or food by a dictionary. Most of panhandlers are begging for their food to live.
The Union Square Business Improvement District, a collection of 500 property owners in downtown San Francisco, hired GLS Research to survey panhandlers over a two-day period in March.
According to a survey in San Francisco Union Square, a panhandler makes $25 a day. He has been panhandling 7 days a week for 5 years. He is using that money to eat and survive.
Most of panhandlers are minority, single male, with disabilities.
“many homeless people don’t want help and prefer living on the streets. However, researchers discovered that, on the contrary, just 3 percent of panhandlers don’t want housing.” Scott said.
Worldwide Video posted a social experience video. A same young man dressed down holding two different sign at same plane in different time. The sign said “Homeless Need Money for WEED, DRUG, and ALCOHOL.” Other sign said, “Homeless single father. Need Money for FAMILY.”
Many people cheered him on for a drug sign. Handful people gave him a dollar or two to this young man who wanted to use money for weed, drugs, and alcohol.
In same after noon, he changes the sign to get help for a family. He was sitting down on the street with a little girl who was putting her head on his lap.
Time goes by.
Thousands of people walk pass by to this young man and a little girl. They notices who they are, however they do not notice how much help they are needing in that moment of their life.
Another time goes by.
A lady who walks by with a dog approaches them. This pretended homeless guy and young girl looks up to her.
“That’s all I made today, but you need it so much more than I do” A lady said. Also, she prays for them.
A pretend homeless man stands up to her and explains that he doing this for social experience video. He gave her $100 to this homeless and helpful lady.
On the other hand, an oklahoman was arrested suspicious of making more money panhandling than rest of people.
Oklahoma City resident Shane Warren Speegle, 45, told police that he made $60,000 panhandling last year and was too lazy to get a job, according to KOCO.com.
"I'm lazy, and I made $60,000 doing this last year," he reportedly told police. "Why would I go get a job?" Speegle said.
According to San Francisco research, most of money panhandler got was from average citizens from bay. Main factor was empathy.
